About
“Every tune has a life of its own. Embedded in the music and the lyrics is a heartfelt story. I just want to tell that story as best as I can.”
Vocalist/Music Educator
Heather Macy has been a vocalist for 20 years, and a music educator for over 15. She received her bachelor's degree in music education from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2004. She sang with their jazz band under the direction of Curt Hanrahan. She teaches private vocal instruction to students of varying age ranges. When she is not inspiring kids and adults to learn more about music, she is entertaining audiences with her singing. She has performed with the Arimen of Swing, The Gary Meisner Quartet, The Ray Newman Big Band, the Brian Ford Trio, the Curt Hanrahan Septet, the Noyz Boyz and Gyrlz, and Nightlife. She has sung in many venues the Packing House, Blu, Festa Italiana, Polish Fest, Labor Fest (singing the national anthem prior to Barack Obama's Speech), as well as numerous private events and weddings.
Heather is influenced by many different artists: Ella Fitzgerald, Wynton Marsalis, Sarah Vaughn, Eva Cassidy, and Linda Rondstadt are her strongest influences. Regarding the jazz art form, Heather considers it to be a very organic one. "Every tune has a life of its own. Embedded in the music and the lyrics is a heartfelt story. I just want to tell that story as best as I can."
